Autism advocates laud bill (New Haven Register)

Advocates for people with autism were joyful Thursday that the General Assembly passed a bill requiring health insurers to cover evaluation and treatment for autistic disorders, including Asperger’s syndrome.

UK Autism Foundation Backs Call For Increase In Carer’s Allowance (Medical News Today)

The UK Autism Foundation has backed the call for a substantial increase in the carer’s allowance. There are six million carers in the United Kingdom who look after family members or friends at home and often struggle to pay for their basic needs. Carers are finding it difficult to apply for the allowance because of the restrictions -you have to be caring for more than 35 hours a week.

Social Stories for Children With Autism (Times Education Supplement)

Children on the autism spectrum often have difficulty with transitions, perspective taking and everyday social skills. One effective method often used by teachers and parents is to create Social Stories to use with individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
