Grammy winner to play at autism benefit (The News-Herald)

The National Autism Association — Northeast Ohio Chapter will present its benefit concert with Dan Zanes and Friends, Grammy Award-winning children’s musician, at 6:30 p.m. today at Independence Middle School in Independence.

Health Law Institute At DePaul University College Of Law To Host Autism Symposium On World Autism Day, April 2 (Medical News Today)

Autism affected an estimated 1.5 million people in 2007. By 2013, the Autism Society of America predicts that the disability will impact as many as 4 million Americans and that the cost for its care and treatment will reach between $200 and $400 billion, making it the nation’s fastest-growing developmental disability.

Autism Connect program receives grant (Osseo-Maple Grove Press)

Two Autism Connect teachers in the Osseo School District who work with students needing support to understand the nuances of socializing and behavior regulation recently received a $2,000 Qwest grant to implement a technique called video modeling.

Autism society chapter hosts walk (Fairbanks Daily News-Miner)

New state commission on autism to help children with disorder (Salem Statesman Journal)

Gov. Ted Kulongoski has created a state commission on autism, which will make recommendations on how to better serve people with the spectrum disorder. Services for autism are now fragmented and inconsistent around the state, the executive order says.
